A new quilt pattern bundle for modern quilters

have you ever wondered how to take your quilting skills to the next level?

do you dream of crafting modern quilts with perfect points and shapely curves?

would you love to try new patchwork techniques with help and support?

Cowden Quilt School has teamed up with The Hackney Quilter and Made Just Sew to help you achieve all these things and more.

We’ve combined our most popular, skill-building designs as a digital quilt pattern bundle called ‘Shape Up’. We’ve also created a package of tutorials, materials and tools to help you as you sew. With our Shape Up designs and support, you can conquer curves, hone half-rectangle triangles and take-off with flying geese!

I’m excited and proud to tell you all about Shape Up and where the patterns can take you next on your quilting journey…

Are you ready to Shape Up with us?

When we say ‘Shape Up’, we mean sew. That’s a promise: there are no squats, lunges or burpees involved! The Shape Up quilt pattern bundle is all about strong patchwork shapes and exercising your sewing muscles to develop new skills.

We know how daunting it can be to try a new patchwork technique for the first time. We’ve been there too and it goes something like this:

  • You’ve seen a cool, modern quilt pattern.

  • The cover quilt looks simple enough, right?

  • Then you look into it more closely…

  • What the heck is a half-rectangle triangle?

  • Where do you even begin with sewing curves?

  • And how do you get crisp points on those flying geese triangles?

We asked ALL the same questions.

Fast forward a few years and our pain back then can be your gain right now because we’re here to help.

Between us, we’ve written over 30 quilt pattern designs for quilters just like you. Now we’ve combined our most popular designs into one, skill-building pattern bundle. With Shape Up you'll soon be stitching curves, half-rectangle triangles and flying geese with confidence.

What is the Shape Up bundle?

Shape Up combines three striking quilt patterns for the modern quilter. Each pattern focuses on a different patchwork shape and technique to help you build your skills and confidence as you sew.

Shape Up is available for a limited time, and a very special price, so that new and experienced quilters everywhere can create perfect curves, accurate half-rectangle triangles and crisp flying geese, with ease.

When you buy the Shape Up bundle, you’ll receive an instant link to download a PDF file containing all three patterns. Simply download and save the file to your device or cloud storage before the link expires. Then grab your fabric and thread and start quilting!

About the Shape Up quilt pattern designers

We are Anna Wraith (The Hackney Quilter), Claire Campion (Made Just Sew) and Kathleen Anderson (Cowden Quilt School).

We’re British quilt pattern designers who met through Instagram, bonded over Zoom calls during lockdowns and have been supporting one another ever since. On one of our annual trips to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England an idea for a collaboration was born: together we want to support modern quilters everywhere to try new techniques.

We’ve created the Shape Up bundle of quilt patterns to help you create three modern patchwork quilts and build your skills as you sew.

CLAIRE CAMPION

Claire’s sewjo started with keepsakes. Having a young family, she connected with the need to hold on to special outfits that her children were rapidly growing out of. Soon after making those first keepsakes, Claire’s passion for quilts began to grow… During the 2020 pandemic, Claire designed her first quilt pattern to channel her creativity when life wouldn’t allow much time behind the sewing machine. Since then, she has immersed herself in the world of quilt pattern design and content creation.

ANNA WRAITH

Anna is a former upholsterer and bookseller and started The Hackney Quilter to explore her love of traditional quilts in a way that felt more relevant for a modern home and lifestyle. Although she made her first quilt in her teens, she didn't start designing quilt patterns and quilting full time until January 2021. In those first months, Anna learned that there is so much more to be gained from quilting than merely a beautiful picnic rug or cosy throw for those colder moments and believes strongly in the healing power of making with our hands.

KATHLEEN ANDERSON

Kathleen is a quilter, quilting teacher and quilt pattern designer from the East Midlands – right in the centre of the UK. Her quilting classes have been transforming beginners into quilters since 2016 and her modern quilt patterns keep new quilters making and learning. Kathleen learnt to quilt by trial and error and refusing to give up! She loves to teach people how to avoid the mistakes she made as a beginner and create quilts to be proud of.

About the Shape Up patterns

Collider QUILT

Collider is a fun, modern, block-based quilt pattern design. The blocks rotate in a set of nine, forming a kaleidoscope pattern that is mesmerising. Each Collider block is created from half-square triangles, half-rectangle triangles and quarter-square-triangles. The pattern walks you through how to construct the quilt with six colours or just three. Either way compliments the pattern perfectly.

New MOON QUILT

The New Moon quilt pattern is an original modern design inspired by the full moon reflected in the waves of Anna’s favourite beaches in Denmark. Shape Up your curves skills with the minimal composition and easy to follow guide. The pattern includes three colour options as well as full instructions and curve templates for five sizes.

AIRSPACE QUILT

Airspace is a modern, block-based pattern and an ode to the classic flying geese patchwork block. The design is inspired by looking up at the patterns created in a busy airspace of birds or aircraft. Airspace is ideal for any quilter who wants to improve their piecing technique using the four-at-a-time method to create flying geese triangles.
