Kathleen Anderson
Hi, I’m Kathleen and I’m a quilter, quilting teacher and quilt pattern designer from the UK.
My quilting classes have been transforming beginners into quilters since 2016. My modern quilt patterns keep new quilters making and learning.
Making quilts is my purpose, teaching others to quilt is my passion and designing quilt patterns is my joy.
Cowden Quilt School was established in the village of Cowden, Kent in 2016. I’ve taught dozens of beginners and improvers, hosting classes, workshops and retreats in the South-East of England and the East Midlands. I also design modern quilt patterns for you to download and make at home.
I’m a regular guest tutor at the Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester City Centre.
I’ve made sample quilts on behalf of iconic design brand Liberty London to showcase new fabric ranges releasing in Spring 2025.
My designs feature regularly in Love Patchwork & Quilting magazine.

Why
I learnt to quilt by trial and error and refusing to give up! I love teaching people how to avoid the mistakes I made back then. With my help, you can make quilts to be proud of.
Where
My cosy quilting studio is part of our family home in East Leicestershire. Every quilt I design, sew and teach is brought to life in this space. I host regular classes here too. Join me!
